Get Help with Accessing Oxford Academic Content
Accessing content on Oxford Academic is made easy through various methods, including institutional subscriptions, society memberships, and personal accounts. If you are facing any issues with access, here are some ways to get help:
Institutional Access:
Access to Oxford Academic content is often provided through institutional subscriptions. If you are a member of an institution with an active account, you can access content through:
IP Based Access:
Access is provided across an institutional network to a range of IP addresses. This authentication happens automatically, and you cannot sign out of an IP authenticated account.
Sign in through your institution:
To get remote access when outside your institution, use Shibboleth/Open Athens technology for single sign-on between your institution’s website and Oxford Academic. Follow these steps:
- Click “Sign in through your institution.”
- Select your institution from the list provided.
- Use the credentials provided by your institution to sign in.
- After successful sign-in, you will be redirected to Oxford Academic.
If your institution is not listed or you face issues signing in, contact your librarian or administrator for assistance.
Sign in with a Library Card:
If you have a library card, you can enter the number to sign in. If you encounter any problems, reach out to your librarian for help.
Society Members:
If you are a society member, access to a journal can be achieved through:
Sign in through society site:
Many societies offer single sign-on between their website and Oxford Academic. Follow these steps:
- Click “Sign in through society site.”
- Use the credentials provided by the society to sign in.
- Once signed in successfully, you will be directed back to Oxford Academic.
If you need assistance with your society account, contact the society directly.
Sign in using a personal account:
Some societies use Oxford Academic personal accounts for access. If needed, use your personal account to sign in.
Personal Account:
A personal account allows you to receive email alerts, save searches, purchase content, and activate subscriptions. It can also be used for access to certain society resources.
Viewing Your Signed-In Accounts:
Click the account icon in the top right corner to:
- View your signed-in personal account and access account management features.
- View the institutional accounts providing access.
Signed in But Can’t Access Content:
If you are unable to access specific content on Oxford Academic, it may not be included in your institutional subscription. Contact your librarian if you believe you should have access to that content.
Institutional Account Management:
