Dogecoin (DOGE), the popular dog-themed cryptocurrency, is on the verge of launching a new core upgrade that promises to enhance its performance and usability. The upcoming update, Dogecoin Core 1.14.7, is packed with bug fixes and security enhancements, making it a highly anticipated release in the crypto community.
According to Dogecoin developer Patrick Lodder, the final phase of the update is nearing completion, with the release expected to happen soon. Lodder took to social media to announce the progress, stating that the upgrade is “entering the final stage of the Dogecoin Core 1.14.7 release plan.”
In a tweet, Inevitable 360, another Dogecoin developer, shared a screenshot of the milestone window for the upgrade, revealing that it is 97% complete and on track for the next update of Dogecoin Core 1.14.7.
While excitement mounts for this essential upgrade with crucial bug fixes and security enhancements, the focus has been on the long-awaited 1.21 release, which has been in the works for the past three years. The goal of the 1.14.7 upgrade, as highlighted by Patrick Lodder in a forum post, is to facilitate a smooth transition to the 1.15 version when it is eventually released and to eliminate constraints for more significant improvements.
Earlier in February, the release of Libdogecoin 0.1.3 marked the culmination of a year’s worth of testing and development efforts, introducing new features such as support for Android. Looking ahead to 2024, Dogecoin’s core C library, Libdogecoin, plans to expand its language bindings in Python and Go and explore additional functionalities.

The Dogecoin Foundation has outlined its goals for 2024, including improving existing projects, launching new initiatives like DogeBox, and fostering increased team and community engagement in the Dogecoin ecosystem.
