‘DNA Payments to Introduce POS Alipay+ Acceptance for more than 50,000 UK Businesses’

DNA Payments, a UK-based fintech company, has expanded its portfolio of point-of-sale (POS) alternative payment methods by launching Alipay+, a suite of cross-border mobile payment and digitalization technology solutions operated by Ant International.

With this new launch, over 50,000 UK merchants using DNA Payments’ POS terminals will now be able to accept direct payments from global tourists, particularly from Asia, in a fast and convenient manner. This development is expected to benefit sectors like hospitality, tourism, and travel significantly. Initially, users of 14 Alipay+ partner e-wallets will have the ability to make mobile payments at select hospitality merchants, such as the Boisdale restaurant group and the Lochside House Hotel Spa & Lodges, during the pilot scheme, which will conclude in June.

Customers can make payments by scanning a QR code displayed on a DNA Payments’ POS terminal, using their mobile payment apps to complete transactions. This system aims to provide international visitors to the UK with a seamless buying experience, while also allowing merchants to better engage with their customers utilizing DNA Payments’ POS solutions.

Among the e-wallets and banking apps partnering with Alipay+ are Alipay, AlipayHK, MPay, Touch ’n Go eWallet, and MyPB by Public Bank Berhad, among others. Alipay+ offers worldwide coverage, connecting 88 million merchants to over 25 e-wallets and banking apps globally, ensuring a smooth and secure payment experience with access to promotions, benefits, and services from merchants worldwide.

JP LIPS, CEO at DNA Payments, highlighted the importance of catering to Asian visitors in the UK by accepting international e-wallets like Alipay, MPay, and TrueMoney. He emphasized the ease of use for businesses of all sizes, with seamless funding, settlement, and unified payment methods through DNA Payments’ portal.

Pietro Candela, General Manager of Europe at Alipay+, expressed excitement about partnering with DNA Payments to offer businesses access to the Alipay+ suite of cross-border payment and tech solutions. This collaboration aims to facilitate direct payments from international visitors in the UK, particularly in sectors such as hospitality, travel, and tourism.
