Nintendo has finally unveiled a more premium version of their Switch console, and a number of calculated upgrades combine to make the popular hybrid gaming device better than ever.
The standout feature on the new Nintendo Switch OLED Model is the titular screen upgrade. The new console boasts an OLED display for more vivid colors and crisper graphics over the standard Switch’s LCD display, while the size of the screen has also been boosted from 6.2 inches to 7 inches. A wider, more adjustable kickstand has also been added for more stable tabletop gaming, and there’s now a LAN port to allow for better-connected online gaming while in TV mode. Internal storage has been doubled over the regular Switch, from 32 GB to 64 GB, and Nintendo says they’ve enhanced the audio in the onboard speakers. The Nintendo Switch OLED Model is priced at $350 and will be available from October 8, 2021.
