The reach of Angry Birds 2 just got even greater with its integration into Huawei’s AppGallery. It’s safe to say as well that this latest addition also benefits Huawei, in a way. That’s because AppGallery now has a better chance to be introduced to a larger international audience.
As a background, the first Angry Birds was released in 2009, initially available on iOS. When it was ported to Android, it helped put focus on mobile as a potential gaming platform. While Angry Birds 2 is the 12th in the series, it is the one that put the franchise to new heights. Unlike the first game, the sequel now offered players multistage levels.
Angry Birds 2 is the first-ever game from Rovio to be listed on AppGallery. However, the Angry Birds movie had long been available on Huawei video. To support the game’s integration, Huawei is launching a wide range of promotions along with activities on its social channels.
Besides playing the game, Huawei users can customize their phones with Huawei Themes. In the future, those with Huawei smartwatches and bands can download watch faces based on Angry Birds 2.
In a statement, Derek Yu at Huawei said that they continue to develop partnerships with some of the leading game developers worldwide. He added that with these partnerships, they hope to build exposure for its user base while also giving confidence among different studios and developers.
Meanwhile, Miikka Lindgren at Rovio said that with the integration into AppGallery, Angry Birds 2 is now available to more players. Lindgren went on to say that their mission has always been to create joy and they are more than happy when their games reach new audiences.
While Rovio is typically associated with the Angry Birds franchise, they have been developing other games like Need for Speed: Carbon for mobile.
Huawei continues to work with registered developers to bring new content to the platform. Learn more about the AppGallery here.
