The Summer of Xbox

Due to the restrictions pertaining to social gatherings that have been caused by the COVID-19 outbreak, there are not going to be any major conferences held this summer. At least in the traditional sense. The most well-known gaming expo E3 announced that they would not be able to have their annual event in March. This left many people scratching their heads and wondering how big gaming companies are going to get around this dilemma. Xbox made it clear in April that they would be hosting a large event this summer in order to showcase their new console the Xbox Series X. But there is a lot more on the way. Xbox has just revealed that they are planning on hosting a series of events over a four-month period.

These events are going to vary in terms of magnitude but the general purpose of all of these showcases is going to remain consistent. These events are going to serve as places for both Xbox and other developers to show off their new games and other announcements. Think of it as an online E3. Geoff Keighley, the person who broke this news did not go into detail about each individual event that is going to take place. But expect to hear more news about this later this week.

Some have praised this new idea by Xbox as a superior alternative to the dynamic of E3. Rather than squishing every game imaginable into a couple of days, this new approach by Xbox is going to allow news and information to slowly be released to the public. Hopefully, this will make it easier for fans to keep up with what is going on in the gaming industry and are not overwhelmed by the sheer amount of new titles and release dates.
