To fill the void of lost video-game events and conferences due to the Covid-19 pandemic, Summer Game Fest is here to become the new “industry-wide celebration of video games” which will run from May through August. The event will entail “breaking news, in-game events, and free playable content” from companies in the gaming industry.

Announced by Geoff Keighley, who will be both curator and host for pre and post shows which includes huge game companies such as; Bethesda, Blizzard Entertainment, 2K, Activision, CD Projekt Red, Electronic Arts, Xbox, Riot Games, Sony and Square Enix, among others.

It’s a welcome announcement considering cancellation of the year’s biggest games events like E3, GDC, Gamescom, SXSW, and it’s to me, even better. Considering you don’t have to be there in person to experience the conferences, and can see the latest games and announcements from home. Not to mention the Summer Game Fest is running from May to August, which is four months of new gaming goodness. That’s a plus.

The events will stream via all major channels such as Facebook, Mixer, Twitch, Twitter and YouTube. Details for specific events will be handled by publishers directly. Stay tuned to see what’s going on with Summer Game Fest, as now developers and publishers have a unified platform for their announcements, which makes things interesting. I’m hoping to hear more about the next-gen of gaming, so hopefully, we get that and then some.
