Oddworld: Stranger’s Wrath HD receives its January Switch release date

Oddworld: Stranger’s Wrath HD will release for Nintendo Switch for $29.99 on Jan. 23, just two and a half weeks from now, according to developer Oddworld Inhabitants. The game was first announced for Switch back in September 2018, so this has been a long time coming, especially considering the game originally released in 2005 for Xbox (the first one). A new trailer commemorates the occasion. Take a look and remind yourself of this game’s unique brand of mixed third- and first-person action.

As the trailer notes, Oddworld: Stranger’s Wrath HD features gyroscopic aiming, 60 FPS, “turbo-charged” load times, and “much more.” As for the narrative, here’s how Nintendo describes the game:

Along comes Stranger, a tall, dark and enigmatic bounty hunter with a mission to capture troublemakers and scoundrels and return them to civilized townships for incarceration.

But Stranger is keeping a secret and needs expensive surgery to survive. In his quest to earn enough Moolah, Stranger reluctantly accepts the ultimate bounty from the owner of the Mongo River and suddenly his adventure takes a very different turn.

Have you ever played Oddworld: Stranger’s Wrath or any other entries in the franchise? Honestly, after all these years, I still have not. “Yeah, I should get around to trying that,” is an attitude I’ve had toward this series since 1997.
