Sierra Leone President Julius Maada Bio arrived in Kenya on Saturday night to begin a five-day official visit.

President Bio was received in Nairobi by Foreign Minister Amb Raychelle Omamo and other government officials.

He is scheduled to hold bilateral talks with Kenyan President Uhuru Kenyatta, which are expected to culminate into the signing of seven Memoranda of Understanding aimed at further enhancing relations between Kenya and Sierra Leone.

The Sierra Leonean leader will also attend Sunday’s celebrations to mark the International Day of U.N. Peacekeepers.

The day is set aside by the U.N. to pay tribute to the uniformed and civilian personnel’s contribution to the work of the Organization and to honor nearly 4,200 peacekeepers who have lost their lives serving under the U.N. flag since 1948.

The theme for this year’s Day is “People. Peace. Progress. The Power of Partnerships.”

President Bio will also be the chief guest at Kenya’s Independence Day celebrations on June 1.
