A man walked up to a Cape Coral home, took a look inside the open garage and swiped a Nintendo Switch gaming console from a table. And it was all caught on surveillance video.
The Cape Coral Police Department identified the man from the video, captured Tuesday night around 8:30 p.m. in the 100 block of Northeast 13th Place. The agency arrested him Wednesday.
The victim was in his home at the time, according to a news release. He had been in his garage with the door open and went inside for a moment, the release said. Then he heard an alert from his front motion alarm, checked his phone and saw the man standing in his garage, according to the release.
The video shows the man slowly approaching the house, peering around the garage and then entering. The victim told authorities the man stole a Nintendo Switch that was sitting on a table inside the garage, according to the release.
The suspect then runs out of the garage to an awaiting silver car, according to the release and the video.
A Nintendo Switch costs about $300.
Officers located 35-year-old Kyle Joseph Sullivan. According to the release, the Nintendo Switch was on his nightstand and he had a Suboxone pill in his pocket but doesn’t have a prescription.
Officers arrested him and charged him with occupied burglary, grand theft and possession of a controlled substance.
Jail records show he did not have any previous Lee County arrests. He was booked into the Lee County Jail.
