Heartbreaking images show a sobbing 22-year-old visiting her murdered fiancé’s grave wearing her wedding dress on the weekend they were due to marry.
Sara Baluch of Nashville, Tennessee, in the US wore an ivory chiffon wedding dress while visiting the grave of her late fiancé, Mohammad Sharifi (24), three weeks after he was killed.
According to People, Mohammad was allegedly shot and killed by D’Marcus White on 19 February in the parking lot of an apartment complex as he was trying to sell his Xbox One gaming system.
D’Marcus has since been charged with robbery and homicide.
Sara recalls the dreadful moment a nurse told her Mohammad wouldn’t make it, “The nurse came in. She sat down next to me. She held my hand and she said, ‘I’m so sorry. He was shot. He didn’t make it’.”
“It was like the world was ripped from underneath me. It felt like I was falling and it wasn’t stopping’,” she added.
“I fainted. When I woke up, I was like, ‘No. This is a dream. We were getting married in two weeks. I just saw him last night. I just saw him’.”
As Sara sat weeping, loved ones took turns reciting prayers and reading from the Quran, Daily Mail reports.
“We were supposed to be together,’ Sara said with tears in her eyes.
“I’m so sorry, Mohammad. I’m so sorry. So sorry.”
Sara revealed that she received birthday presents, which included a Rolex watch, a week after Mohammad’s death. He’d bought the gifts, which he’d promised to get her during a trip they’d taken to Hawaii, to surprise her.
“I had no idea he kept his promise,” she said
“That’s why he was so excited to give it to me. It was the hardest thing because he got them for me. He’s not here and he’s still surprising me. He’s not here and he’s still giving me the world!”
