While Microsoft had promised news of its most anticipated titles at Gamescom, many gamers were disappointed not to find a Halo Infinite gameplay presentation in the Xbox conference. Recently, 343 Industries explained itself in a blog post, written by Joseph Staten, its creative director. He explains that the development of Halo Infinite is at a critical moment, close to the announced release, and that it was not possible to allocate more work resources to a technical demonstration: “gameplay demos and trailers not only take an incredible amount of work to be done right, but also resources to fix bugs and other final tasks. ” We will have to wait a little longer to see what this Halo Infinite campaign has in store for us.

Halo Infinite finally has an exact release date. It was during Gamescom Opening Night that the fateful date of the December 8, 2021 has been revealed, confirming 343 Industries’ desire to release its game during the holiday season. This release, which will be done directly on Xbox Game Pass, among other things, will include the single-player and multiplayer campaign (entirely free-to-play). For the co-op campaign you will have to wait three more months, and for the Forge mode six months. The game, while optimized for 4K 60fps gameplay on Xbox Series X | S, will also be releasing on Xbox One, news that will be a hit with last-gen console owners. We invite you to the 2021 holidays, the opportunity to celebrate the twenty years of Master Chief.

Joseph Staten, Creative Director at 343 Industries, says so himself in the presentation. Halo Infinite will take place on the largest open world the studio has ever created: the Halo Ring. This mega-structure will be the theater of the adventures of Spartan 177, Master Chief who will once again have to push his limits in order to protect Humanity from an enemy more powerful than ever. Halo Infinite will be a kind of open-world RPG, mixing story, exploration and combat phases, a novelty in the 343 Industries franchise. As for the story of Halo Infinite, it takes place after the events of Halo 5, on Installation 07, one of the Halo circles. Master Chief will have to face a group of mercenaries commanded by Brutes. Not much is known about the campaign yet, other than that it will be the most ambitious of all Halo games.
