‘Skyrim’ Fan Labels Controller So Dad Can Play Without Getting Confused

While it is over a decade old now, The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim is still attracting more and more gamers to the wondrous world of Tamriel. One fan has helped out their dad who wants to give the classic RPG a go by labelling his controller with what each of the buttons do in the game. That’s the dictionary definition of “wholesome.”

With more re-releases than you can shake a Wabbajack at, Skyrim is accessible for players of all stripes and the improvements to be added as part of its PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X versions are tough to turn down. The Anniversary Edition has got every expansion – Dawnguard, Hearthfire, Dragonborn – and the visual ameliorations that arrived with the Special Edition of the game. That’s not even mentioning the “500 unique pieces of Creation Club content, including quests, dungeons, bosses, weapons, spells and more” and the fact that fishing is now a feature.

Will the Anniversary Edition eradicate the bugs, glitches and miscellaneous nonsense of Skyrim that we hold close to our hearts? Probably not. All this recent talk of the RPG is bound to have pricked some ears, and this gamer has ensured that their dad’s first steps into Tamriel are clearly signposted. Very responsible.

As you can see in Reddit user lea_firebender’s post, the DualShock 4 controller is being used by their dad for the PC version of the game. The labels therefore match the symbols that are shown for different actions, so the bumpers are labelled “Sprint” and “Shout” and the cross and square buttons are labelled “E” and “R”. What I’m not too sure about is the electrical hazard symbol pasted over the circle button, which would correspond to the character menu on PC. Each to their own I suppose.

“He’s played other games, but nothing with this many controls. It’s a slow learning process but he’s doing pretty damn well,” explained the gamer. Well, we at GAMINGbible wish him the very best on his journey to become the Dragonborn of legend, and advise to disown him if he decides to kill Paarthurnax at the end.
