Promesa takes you on a ‘surreal journey’ on Nintendo Switch on June 25

Publisher Fantastico Studio and developer Julian Palacios Gechtman are bringing “surreal journey” Promesa to Nintendo Switch with a release date of June 25, 2021. It is also releasing on Xbox One and Xbox Series X on June 11, and it already previously launched on PC, PlayStation 4, and PlayStation 5. It retails for $4.99 in all cases. The game was born “from a conversation between a grandfather and his grandchild,” making it a unique and personal project. A Promesa launch trailer from last month will give you a vague idea of what to expect when the game comes to Switch, but even when reading the game’s official description, there’s plenty of purposeful ambiguity:

While listening to someone trying to remember their experiences, past and present blend together, forming a stream of images that are both personal and shared. From memories of homes and streets to surreal visions of imaginary places, Promesa is a contemplative experience about what happens when we’re left dreaming of the things we haven’t lived firsthand.

Playing Promesa is apparently about just relaxing and taking your time through distinct and mysterious environments, inspired by cities in Argentina and Italy. One playthrough lasts approximately 45 minutes, but each playthrough will be different, thus requiring replays to discover everything the game has to offer.

If you need something to unwind after the inevitable big reveals of E3 2021, Promesa might help you do that on Nintendo Switch later this month. In any case, this title is certainly a change of pace from Fantastico Studio’s other upcoming Switch game, Borneo: A Jungle Nightmare.
