Project Zero: Maiden of Black Water gets a fall release date

Koei Tecmo has confirmed that Project Zero: Maiden of Black Water will be released on PC and consoles this October.

The game will launch digitally on October 28 for the Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and Windows PC via Steam.

The new release is an enhanced version of the 2014 cult classic originally developed for the Nintendo Wii U. It gives the game a modest technical upgrade, plus a brand new photo mode that allows players to create scenes using any character or ghost from the game. New costumes – including a Punk Ensemble and Groom’s Outfit – are also included.

The original release of Project Zero: Maiden of Black Water was most notable for its use of the Wii U GamePad. The game’s Camera Obscura mechanics are now mapped to a traditional controller interface. Based on the new trailer, it appears that little has been lost in the change.

To mark the 20th anniversary of the Fatal Frame franchise, Koei Tecmo is also publishing a digital deluxe edition that includes a copy of the game, a digital artbook, and six costumes inspired by previous characters from the series.
