Nintendo wrapped up E3 2021 with a bang, hosting what can be described as one of the best Nintendo Direct presentations we’ve seen in a long time. There were some fantastic announcements, with games such as Metroid Dread and Advance Wars 1+2: Re-Boot Camp blowing everyone’s minds. Zelda fans were also treated to another trailer for the sequel to The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, which looks absolutely wonderful. There’s no denying that Nintendo pulled out all the stops this year, and it turns out the presentation was a hit online. According to Stream Hatchet, a games industry analytics platform, Nintendo managed to dominate E3 2021 with the highest peak viewers, sitting at a comfortable 3.1 million across Twitch and YouTube Gaming.

Xbox hosted its E3 press conference on Sunday, June 13 and reportedly managed to peak at 2.3 million viewers. That means the Nintendo E3 2021 Direct almost had 1 million more peak viewers than the Xbox & Bethesda Showcase, which is extremely impressive. Some people expressed disappointment with E3 2021, claiming that this year was quite underwhelming. However, if you factor in the COVID-19 pandemic, personally, I believe this year’s E3 was great, as a lot of games have obviously been impacted within the past year or so.
