‘Hogwarts Legacy’ Is The Most In-Demand Game This Year, Study Finds

The report from AV Installations took the statistics from the official PlayStation, Xbox, and Nintendo YouTube channels to work out which games are getting the most eyeballs on them over the course of 2021. We’re over three-quarters into the year now (oh, good) and it’s an intriguing insight to see what sort of things gamers are most interested in the near and far future.

Here’s the trailer for a little refresher on what’s to come from Hogwarts Legacy, featuring a very different school grounds to the ones we saw in the films.


Of the games with the highest number of views, the genre of action-adventure triumphed above all others, with 32% of titles in the top 25 games counted in this category. Well, it does impress if you’re able to show off big explosions, car chases, perilous shootouts and other bright colours and flashy lights. At the end of the day, gamers are just like magpies.

Also, PlayStation was leagues ahead of Xbox and Nintendo, claiming 52% of the games with the highest number of views on YouTube. Regarding Xbox, the game at the top of the pile is S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2, sneaking in front of Halo Infinite with 500,000 views between them. And, Nintendo’s superstar is Super Mario 3D World + Bowser’s Fury which was launched in February of this year.

James Daly called the re-release an “exceptional” experience that “elevates itself to new heights” with online play and new Bowser-centric campaign. “It’s undoubtedly one of the best Super Mario games in franchise history, worth replaying time and time again,” he said. So what are you waiting for?
