Developer Survios, publisher Koch Media, and MGM have announced that Big Rumble Boxing: Creed Champions will launch on Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC with a release date of September 3, 2021, and it has a gameplay trailer to go with it featuring a total 20 Rocky franchise greats. For starters, it will include Adonis Creed, Rocky Balboa, Apollo Creed, Clubber Lang, Ivan Drago, and Viktor Drago, which is basically everyone who matters. (Fingers crossed that Adrian enters the ring.) It will support local two-player matches.
Big Rumble Boxing: Creed Champions was first revealed during a Nintendo Direct Mini from August 2020 as one of the more surprising appearances. PR for the title tries to entice with, “Pick-up-and-play controls meet robust boxing mechanics to empower players to fight opponents in arcade-style settings with moves that are easy to pick up but tough to master.” Hopefully that’s all true. Additionally, you can practice your boxing skills “in classic Creed and Rocky training montages and take on world-class opponents across a variety of thrilling locations, as you follow each character’s unique story.” Although, the angle at which matches are set makes Creed Champions seem a bit more like a fighting game than a typical boxing game.
Big Rumble Boxing: Creed Champions has its September release date set, but there’s really no telling yet if it will actually be good. However, Survios previously developed VR boxing game Creed: Rise to Glory, which received a pretty solid critical reception, so fingers crossed that Creed Champions will retain that quality.
